Product Information

Before taking this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Taking certain MAO inhibitors with this medication may cause a serious (possibly fatal) drug interaction. Avoid taking isocarboxazid, metaxalone, methylene blue, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, rasagiline, safinamide, selegiline, or tranylcypromine during treatment with this medication. Most MAO inhibitors should also not be taken for two weeks before treatment with this medication. Ask your doctor when to start or stop taking this medication.If your doctor has directed you to use this medication, remember that your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Codeine Linctus contains Quinoline Yellow Solution Compound which contains Sunset Yellow (E110) and Quinoline Yellow (E104). Sunset Yellow may cause allergic reactions. Administration of pethidine and possibly other opioid analgesics to patients taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) has been associated with very severe and sometimes fatal reactions. Also contain E128, which may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed). Your immune system changes during pregnancy which can leave you more vulnerable to coughs and cold. For a cough in pregnancy try the following: Thanks to naturally occurring hormonal changes, during pregnancy some women are more susceptible to vaginal thrush. • Antifungal medicines in pregnancy Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other products that cause drowsiness such as opioid pain or cough relievers (such as codeine, hydrocodone), alcohol, marijuana ( cannabis), drugs for sleep or anxiety (such as alprazolam, lorazepam, zolpidem), muscle relaxants (such as carisoprodol, cyclobenzaprine), or other antihistamines (such as cetirizine, diphenhydramine). Rehydration salts such as Dioralyte are safe to use in pregnancy. Follow the instructions carefully on the sachet regarding dilution. • Imodium

This medicine can impair cognitive function and can affect a patient's ability to drive safely. This class of medicine is in the list of drugs included in regulations under 5a of the Road Traffic Act 1988. When prescribing this medicine, patients should be told: Medicines in the second trimester: during the second trimester some medicines can interfere with the development of the baby's nervous system or with the growth of the baby, resulting in a low birth weight. However, generally, experts believe that the second trimester is the safest period to take medicines. Unwanted Food or Drink Products - Once supply conditions are broken, there are a number of factors outside of our control that can affect the quality of a product. Therefore perishable goods such as food and drink cannot be returned. The safest medicinal option for treating heartburn during pregnancy is calcium carbonate containing preparations such as TUMS. • Antacids during pregnancy

Alternatively, short-term use of nasal sprays containing corticosteroids such as beclometasone, budesonide or fluticasone is unlikely to cause any harm during pregnancy. Short bouts of diarrhoea won't do your baby any harm, but diarrhoea lasting longer than a few days can cause dehydration during pregnancy. This could be serious, but can be avoided by the following: • Rehydration salts during pregnancy If you experience persistent diarrhoea during pregnancy make an urgent appointment with your doctor. Vaginal thrush during pregnancyDextromethorphan: cough suppressants containing dextromethorphan should be avoided in the first trimester. Dextromethorphan has been in widespread use for many years and, providing it is only taken for short periods of time and the smallest dose possible, may be considered safe later in pregnancy. o You have taken it according to the instructions given by the prescriber and in the information provided with the medicine and
